Storage policies can maintain accessible optical copies, physically isolated copies, or both—configured according to the requirements of each bucket.
PRESERVATION
Preservation keeps information durable and retrievable without paying to maintain an unnecessary performance copy. Cache is used for ingest, staging, and restore; optical storage provides the preserved state.
PRESERVATION WORKFLOW
In Active Archive, the performance copy remains because the information is still actively used. In Preservation, cache exists primarily for ingest, staging, and restore. After optical commit and finalization, the cache can be cleared as soon as policy allows.
Cache supports movement into and out of preservation. It is not the long-term active copy.
ONE MEDIA TECHNOLOGY. TWO ACCESS MODES.
Optical storage can remain online through automated optical libraries for direct retrieval, while additional copies can be maintained in physically isolated optical storage for long-term retention and cyber-resilient preservation. Offline media remains tracked and managed by the Savartus environment while remaining physically isolated from the network.
