ACTIVE ARCHIVE
Active Archive combines performance storage with nearline optical preservation. The performance copy remains while usage and performance requirements justify it; the preserved optical copy exists independently.

Information is written to performance storage for active use and to nearline optical storage for preservation. When the performance copy is no longer required, it can be removed according to policy while the preserved optical copy remains discoverable and retrievable.

Information does not require the same storage characteristics throughout its lifecycle. Savartus separates lifecycle state from storage placement, allowing access tiers to change while the information remains managed, preserved, and available according to policy.

LIFECYCLE ECONOMICS
High-performance storage has value when information is actively being used. But that does not mean every retained object needs to remain on SSD or HDD indefinitely. Savartus allows storage cost to decline as access requirements change while preservation continues.
HOT ACCESS

NEARLINE OPTICAL
The hot copy can be removed while the optical object remains online, managed, discoverable, and retrievable. When nearline access is no longer required, information can move to physically isolated optical storage for long-term preservation.
OFFLINE OPTICAL
Information can move into physically isolated optical storage when immediate online access is no longer required.
Storage placement is policy-driven and can change in either direction as information requirements change.
A DIFFERENT STORAGE MODEL
Public cloud providers offer multiple storage classes that trade access, retrieval time, and cost. Savartus approaches the problem differently by creating the preservation copy when information first arrives.
THE SAVARTUS DIFFERENCE
The high-performance copy and the preserved optical object are created together. Performance storage can later be removed without requiring preservation to begin again somewhere else.

Savartus Active Archive as a Service aligns monthly storage cost with the access characteristics of the information.
While the high-performance SSD or HDD copy remains active, the customer pays for that performance tier together with optical preservation. When the hot copy is no longer required, the information remains in optical storage and the monthly rate can decline accordingly.
